CONGRATULATIONS Nyack Public Schools!
It is with great pleasure that we announce the second NEMC "Music Is Life" Contest WINNERS Nyack Public Schools. This fabulous contest calls on school band or orchestra ensembles from around the country to submit a video of a great performance that was recorded this year or a new performance captured on video specifically for this contest. The contest is open to all ages and the winner was decided by PUBLIC VOTE in February 2013. Our WINNERS receive an amazing $10,000 Musical Instrument Package and $1,000 for your school music program.
ABOUT THE WINNING ENTRY
Nyack Public School District has amazing music programs. Our choral and instrumental groups have won numerous awards and accolades throughout the state and country. In order for us to make these opportunities available to all of our students we have a scholarship instrument program which provides instruments to students who can not afford to rent or own an instrument. These instruments would be used to benefit the students in our scholarship programs.
This is our newly formed Nyack High School Symphony Orchestra performing the last 3 minutes of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, 1st Movement. The group is comprised of all of our string players in grades 9-12 plus select woodwinds, brass and percussion..

It is with great pleasure that we announce the winner to our inaugural NEMC Music Is Life National Video Performance Contest. Congratulations to Cheltenham High School Pennsylvania

"Our students are dedicated to excellence, and they realize that the measure of their success is not necessarily by the end result but by how hard they tried. I always remind them that their instruments will only work if they do, and that effort is everything.”.
